Honored to serve again as a judge for the ACT-SO Achievement Program this week. Seeing these young creatives, thinkers, and innovators show up with purpose, discipline and real talent is something special.

ACT-SO isn’t just a competition it’s a platform. A space where students are challenged and celebrated for excellence in academics, science and the arts. Watching them grow & take pride in their work reminds me why programs like this matter.

Big respect to every student who put themselves out there and to the mentors and organizers who pour into them year after year. The future is in good hands.

Each year, high school students across the country start a journey to sharpen their skills through the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). From visual arts and business to performing and culinary arts, participants work with community-based volunteers for a year to develop projects and performances. The experience culminates in local and national events where students compete for scholarships and other rewards.

The Show was a great success. We couldn’t be more happy with the turn out of the event and all the feedback we got over the past week. Truly inspiring getting to see the support shown to so many local artists, musicians and filmmakers that came out to present their work.

Being able to award $5,000 to a local talent was something we’ve always dreamt of.

For the second release in our "A Toast to Legends" collaboration series with Beer Kulture, we procured a pallet of gorgeous ripe organic Mexican raspberries. The resulting blend, with an MT3 spontaneous beer base, is a true celebration of all things bright and berry-forward. The nose on this fermentation is fresh raspberry yogurt and the poignant acidity keeps us reaching for another sip, pairing beautifully with your holiday meals. All proceeds from this beer benefit “Black History, Black Present, Black Future,” a program supported by Beer Kulture. Our friends and partners @beerkulture are a non-profit dedicated to increasing diversity, inclusion, and equity in the craft beverage space through humanitarian assistance, educational programs, and compassionate community services. Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative is proud to present the 2023 Visions in Black Exhibition. The exhibition represents 53 artists of African descent from as far North as Tallahassee and South to Miami. As in 2022 we are delighted to have a representation of college students who are majoring in the visual arts, and we look forward to seeing their talent continue to help Florida grow and represent diversity and equity in the visual arts.
