Mama Bear honors motherhood, the sacrifices of single mothers, and the lessons children carry into adulthood. At the center, a mother holds her son in a moment of protection and childhood innocence. Below, her daughter reads from a book in my personal collection, representing the awareness and possibility that knowledge can open. Together, they reflect what a mother shields her children from, what she teaches them, and what she prepares them to face. Rooted in my gratitude for my own mother, the painting honors the strength it takes to nurture the next generation through life’s challenges. Protection. Awareness. Elevation.

At the center of Green Is the Crown, a woman meets the viewer with a steady gaze, her hands pressed together in quiet focus. Her green dress wraps her shoulders and body, while a vivid red sash gathers at her waist. Against the deep green ground, she feels both rooted and luminous.
I built the painting around the pull between stillness and movement, strength and tenderness. Color and gesture bring the figure forward, while her gaze holds the moment open. Like a mirror, she carries a sense of presence; like a window, the painting invites viewers to bring their own memories and meaning.

Four colorways, one shared image. In Nobody’s Free Until We’re All Free, a childlike figure holds a heart shaped banner close, its words circling the body like a promise and a challenge. Red, green, blue, and off black shift the image’s emotional register while keeping its message in view.
I created the series to hold freedom as a shared responsibility. The repeated image asks how unity can exist while anyone remains unfree. Each version speaks in a different voice, yet all belong to the same whole. I hope the work invites us to look closely, stay in conversation, and imagine what collective care can make possible.

Seeing Red, Gio the Bull portrays Gio, a homeless man living in the Tampa Bay area, across two connected realms. In the recognizable world, he appears as himself. In the distorted realm, he becomes something more: a figure with the freedom to imagine himself as El, the ancient god associated with the bull. The red surrounding him suggests intensity and movement, while the bull evokes the force to charge into life. One horn crosses into the realistic portrait, carrying a fragment of that other realm into view. The painting holds both realities together, honoring Gio as he is while making space for all he might become.

HiiPower 2 carries the spirit of the original HiiPower into a new portrait and palette. A central figure meets an outward burst of vivid color, angular forms, and roses. The roses represent growth and development, their stems and blooms stretching through the composition as reminders that becoming is an ongoing part of life. While the first work surrounds its figure with butterflies, this piece uses roses to express that same movement through time, change, and possibility. Together, the two works honor the ways we continue to grow and unfold.
